Bodies on the line: how telepsychology brought about new relationalities between therapists and their clients during the COVID-19 pandemic

This article explores a series of psychosocial and embodied relationalities that emerged between registered solo-practice psychologists their clients during the COVID-19 social lockdowns took place in Australia June August 2020. Drawing on findings from larger qualitative research project into Australian psychologists’ experiences maintaining therapeutic relationships via teleconferencing technologies pandemic, I explore ways which relational taking therapy online resulted new working with over digital media interfaces such as Zoom, Skype Facetime. Central to this discussion is an exploration attunement, fears risk contagion, concerns around trust privacy were negotiated create new, ‘more-than-human’ therapists, spaces brought them together.
